IT'S RAE RAE'S RECIPE WITH OUR FRIENDS OVER AT SAVE A LOT: This week at Save A Lot they have cabbage .25/lb., and pick 5 select meats $19.99, so with that being said I decided a meat, rice, and tomato cabbage roll would be a great idea! Here we go..... What you'll need: 1 head of green cabbage 1lb. of extra lean ground beef 1 1/3 cup of rice 1 meduim onion, chopped 1 tbsp oil 1 can of tomato past...e 5 tbsp of enriched white flour 1 cup water saved from cabbage salt and pepper Directions: Start by putting on large pot of water to boil Cut out the center head of the cabbage, put that in a bowl of hot water until you can begin to peel leaves off of the head. When water comes to boil put the cabbage leaves in the pot. Boil for 7 minutes over medium heat. In another pot, boil 1 1/3 cups of brown rice. Fry the chopped onion in a pan until brown and cooked through. Then mix the meat, rice, onion mixture together in a large bowl. Then you take your mixture and put inside of a cabbage leaf rolling it into a tight ball so it looks like a cabbage roll. Repeat until cabbage rolls are complete. Place in a baking dish and put in the oven at 350 degrees for an hour. While that is going on you can make a tomato sauce to go over the cabbage rolls..... You will need: 3 cups of boilin water In the meantime, add 5 tablespoons of white enriched flour to 1 cup of cold water and blend VERY Well..no clumps! When water comes to a boil, turn heat down to medium, add flour and water mixture through a strainer and very quickly stir consistently, make sure there are no clumps When mixture thickens add 3/4 can of tomato paste with a bit of water so that the mixture is smooth. Add this mixture over the cabbage rolls when they are done. And there ya have it, Meat, Rice and Tomato Sauce Cabbage Rolls! Happy Cooking!!! -Rae Rae *
